Welcome to the NewsBusiness blog. NewsBusiness is a Public Relations (PR) Marketing firm based in Brisbane, Australia. We work with entrepreneurial organisations that want to get their message out (online and offline) with a judicious mix of media coverage, email communication and great website content. NewsBusiness is a small team dedicated to providing public relations – PR – marketing services to business clients. As you can probably guess, we’re firmly of the view that public relations-focused marketing is the best approach for many businesses – in fact we have coined the phrase “PR Marketing” to describe the approach we take (and recommend).

We started the business to help our clients maximise their PR marketing with regular email communication, media coverage and great website content. And in the process we help them raise their profile, make more sales, and ultimately make more money! At the moment we work with clients in sectors as diverse as renewable energy, business coaching/consulting, photography, web technology, property services and non profit.

David Bateson, Director

Originally with a sales and marketing background in large corporates, David’s experience covers a wide range of industries, including publishing, automotive, legal, accounting, HR and pharmacy. He realised the power of public relations-focused marketing while working as a sales contractor for a retail franchise group in 2004, when two group outlets opened thanks to industry media coverage resulting from his PR efforts, netting the client ~$450,000 in revenue.

Despite his large corporate background, his enthusiasm is with the SME (small-medium enterprise) sector – particularly fast-growth entrepreneurial businesses, and he has worked with several startup software and dot com businesses. Originally from the UK, David moved to Sydney just in time for the 2000 Olympics, before seeing the light and moving up to Brisbane.

Anna Day, Senior Consultant

Anna has worked as a journalist, bureau chief, academic and public relations consultant and has won many awards in these roles. She has written for National Business Review (NZ), The Australian Financial Review and The Economist and has worked in radio and TV (National Radio News in Australia and TVNZ’s Eye Witness program). As a public relations consultant she has worked for large corporations, industry peak bodies and government departments.
